Under Janani-Shishu Suraksha Yojana, pregnant women in rural areas are given Rs 1,400, and women in urban areas are given one thousand rupees.
While under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana they get five thousand rupees more.
For five years after delivery, they also get messages about the vaccination of the mother-child.

In this scheme, there is an important role of Asha Behanji (recognized social health worker).
Asha workers are the link between poor women and the government in the 10 most backward areas of the country.
They have to play the role of connecting the beneficiary woman with the government system under Janani Suraksha Yojana.
They complete all the formalities from identifying pregnant women to hospitalizing them and providing them the necessary facilities.
